On December 9, 2019, San Jose Symphonic Choir hosted its annual You Sing It Messiah at the California Theatre in San Jose.  An audience of approximately 500 Handel aficionados joined the festively appointed Choir, accompanied by the San Jose Baroque Orchestra, in singing most of the movements from the Messiah.

On November 23, San Jose Symphonic Choir performed Handel’s Messiah before nearly a full house at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church.  The response from the attentive audience was appreciative and positive, as were comments from orchestra members and soloists, including the following: “I felt spellbound throughout the entire evening.” “The diction of the chorus was impeccable.  I understood every word they sang.” “”Worthy is the Lamb” was absolutely breathtaking.”  “The Messiah evening was not only gorgeously produced by so many, and thanks partly to Handel, but the sound produced that night was absolute perfection.”  These and other similar remarks flowed. Some were of a deeply personal nature, and some were more like questions than comments because Messiah tends to stir up deep emotions and opinions. Many people mentioned the climatic organ chords in the final movement, which was magnificent.
